About us

In 1997, Tom McGraw and Bill Wentworth launched an independent employee group benefits firm focusing on serving the unique needs of mid-size Michigan employers.  With a different business model – focusing only on health care benefits and providing a higher quality client experience – and a passion for our Vision & Principles, McGraw Wentworth succeeded in becoming the region’s largest employee group benefits firm.

Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC (MMA) acquired McGraw Wentworth in December 2012. In 2014, MMA also acquired Great Lakes Employee Benefit Services. Combined, Marsh & McLennan Agency | Michigan now has over 90 Health & Benefits employees partnering with over 220 employers including privately-and publicly-held firms, municipalities, school districts, non-profits, manufacturers, services, retailers and wholesale firms. This diverse client base ensures our firm’s stability and growth, while also allowing us to share best practices from each industry.

As a part of MMA, we now have expanded resources and a network of expertise to call upon as needed. This includes Property & Casualty services, available both locally via our office in Livonia and nationally.

We believe that high intellect, knowledge and a profound service mentality are the keys to customer satisfaction.

That’s our difference. We listen to you and learn everything about your needs before we begin to design the customized benefit solutions that address your unique situation. Our expert staff makes it possible.

Such companies may also have outgrown their current insurance consultant yet cannot afford the big international consultants with the knowledge and resources they need.
