For six consecutive years, MMA Michigan has ranked amongst the top five small agents/brokers nationwide (under 250 employees) as the Best Place to Work in Insurance. Business Insurance magazine and the Best Companies Group, an independent workplace excellence firm, evaluated the entrants. We earned first place in 2009, the program’s inaugural year. Providing exceptional service starts with an exceptional workplace.
The Detroit Free Press and Workplace Dynamics surveys employees from organizations throughout Michigan, representing a variety of industries. Organizations are scored on six key factors: direction, execution, career, managers, conditions, and pay & benefits. In 2011 and 2012, MMA Michigan was named first amongst the top small workplaces (up to 149 employees).
This award recognizes five area small businesses (under 100 employees) for their achievements and contributions to the community in one of five categories: Revenue Growth, Innovative Products & Services, Staff Expansion & Development, Young Professional-Owned Business, and Global Expansion. MMA Michigan received the recognition for our Revenue Growth achieved since 1997. This growth is due to an innovative service approach, an exceptional team, and unique knowledge products, which we leverage to help Michigan’s businesses achieve their goals.
MMA Michigan is one of a select group of organizations to earn this award fourteen times. The award honors Southeast Michigan’s most desirable employers excelling in key Human Resources Practices. In 2009, MMA Michigan was recognized with an Elite Award in “Employee Education & Development” for our investment in our greatest asset: our highly skilled and professional employees.
TWhile Michigan has its economic challenges, the state also has its “Economic Bright Spots”, organizations that are growing and succeeding, as identified by Corp! magazine in 2008. MMA Michigan was recognized for our expansion into West Michigan and for the services we provide Michigan’s diverse economic base.
The Inc. 5000 represents the most comprehensive look at an important segment of the economy – America’s entrepreneurs. The list highlights the fastest growing privately-owned companies by major industry and within major metropolitan regions including Metro Detroit. For five consecutive years, MMA Michigan has earned several positions within the Inc. 5000’s various lists.
This annual program acknowledges Southeast Michigan businesses for succeeding in spite of the odds, for being innovative, and addressing unique business challenges. MMA Michigan earned this award in 2007, the firm’s tenth anniversary year.
“Business Insurance believes that diversity – whether through gender, race or ethnicity – is important for an industry that serves people and businesses in all walks of life.” (Business Insurance, July 30, 2007) On an annual basis, Business Insurance recognizes fifty women worldwide who are succeeding and holding leadership roles in insurance, risk management, employee benefits and related fields. In 2007, MMA Michigan’s Managing Director Rebecca McLaughlan was highlighted as a “Woman to Watch” for her outstanding work in employee benefits. The award is given based on professional achievements, influence on the marketplace and contributions to the advancement of women in business.
Honoring second-stage entrepreneurs who are determined to grow their companies to the next level, the awards are based on growth in the number of employees, staying power, innovativeness of the product or service, and more important indicators of success.
Granted by the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Future 50 Award recognized the region’s newer businesses for exceptional performance in revenue, employee retention, and job growth. * No Future 50 of Greater Detroit Awards competition held in 2003
Granted to Thomas P. McGraw and William D. Wentworth, this award recognizes accomplishments made possible by the entrepreneurial spirit. Honorees exhibit excellence in these key areas: Innovative Approaches, Future Plans, Management Team, People Philosophy, and Social Responsibility.
