Rebecca A. McLaughlan – Vice President

Becky is the vice president of Health & Benefits for Marsh & McLennan Agency | Michigan.  She has over twenty-five years of experience in the employee benefits field, particularly in the development, analysis, evaluation and implementation of group benefit programs for mid-sized public and private organizations. Becky has significant expertise in the areas of health plan design and funding, managed care, wellness, financial analysis and consumer driven health plan strategies.

Prior to joining McGraw Wentworth (now MMA Michigan) in 1999, Becky was Senior Director of Sales and Marketing for United HealthCare’s Chicago office, with responsibility for the sales and service for the entire middle and large case market. Before that, Becky served in a variety of sales and management roles with The Prudential Insurance Company of America.

As an Account Director, Becky provides strategic direction for a number of clients, including financial service organizations, retailers, law firms, contract staffing, and manufacturers. Notably, Becky has also served in several leadership roles during her tenure with the firm. She became a principal shareholder of the company in 2004, and served as Practice Leader from 2004 to 2007, leading the cross-functional team responsible for our landmark Southeast Michigan Mid-Market Group Benefit Survey. In 2007, Becky was promoted to Managing Director of the firm which, among other things, included overseeing strategic client and project assignments amongst the Account Directors.

Named Vice President in 2014, Becky will help maintain our standard of excellence in service and thought leadership, leading professional development initiatives for our Account Director team, and ensuring the awareness and use of best practices. This includes involvement with key national and regional initiatives of Marsh & McLennan Agency.

Becky has been an active participant and featured speaker in a number of industry forums, including the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) organization and a Crain’s Detroit Business webinar. She is a spokesperson for the firm and frequently provides industry insight for publications such as HealthLeaders InterStudy, Inside Consumer Directed Care, and Crain’s Detroit Business.

Becky received her bachelor’s degree in Finance from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and has completed coursework in the C.E.B.S. program. In 2007, she was recognized as one of Business Insurance magazine’s “Women to Watch” – a national program recognizing women in leadership positions in the insurance industry.
