Thomas P. McGraw is the CEO of Marsh & McLennan Agency | Michigan. Tom has extensive experience in the design, administration and funding of group benefit programs for mid-sized public and private organizations. Focusing on health care reform and health care cost containment, he has been a featured speaker for many professional associations.
Prior to establishing McGraw Wentworth, Tom was a Principal of The ABOW Companies. He joined The ABOW Companies in 1979 and subsequently established its Group Benefit Planning department. Tom became a shareholder of The ABOW Companies in 1982 and was appointed its Chief Executive Officer in 1989. In December 1992, the ABOW Companies was acquired by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Tom was served as Area President of Gallagher ABOW, Inc. until September 1996.
In 1997, Tom co-founded McGraw Wentworth to meet the unique needs of Michigan’s mid-size organizations. In ninteen short years, the firm has grown from three employees and no clients, to an award-winning workplace with over 90 employees and over 220 clients. In December 2012, McGraw Wentworth was acquired by Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC. As CEO, Tom continues to provide direction and guidance for the locally-focused firm which now has the added knowledge and expertise of a global consultant.
Tom attended the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan – Dearborn. Tom graduated from the Dearborn campus with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. In 2004, Tom and Bill Wentworth earned the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in recognition of their efforts to establish a unique and successful service-oriented organization.
